Battle of Wills in Okinawa

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has now met with Okinawa governor Takeshi Onaga over his staunch opposition to the relocation of the U.S. Marine Corps Air Station Futenma. They seem to have had a good conversation but were not able to accomplish anything by it. Additionally, it seems difficult to see how an agreement can be reached as Onaga and his supporters oppose any relocation of Futenma base as well as the continued existence of the base at Futenma at all. He claims, of course, that he understands the importance of the Japan-U.S. alliance but I have my doubts about this. Certainly, the stand-off is presenting a bad public image leading up to the unprecedented visit of Prime Minister Abe to the United States to address a special joint-session of Congress. There is quite a bit that can be seen, 'reading between the lines' about this visit and the background stand-off over the Futenma air station.

Prime Minister Abe is the first Japanese leader to be invited to address the U.S. Congress and is a clear sign of American support for the Abe administration and his policy of strengthening the Self-Defense forces and reinvigorating Japanese leadership in East Asia. This military build-up has long been an idea that the U.S. government has favored (an admission of the mistake American officials made at the end of the war in the drawing-up of the current constitution). The special invitation of Prime Minister Abe to address Congress has also not gone unnoticed by the leaders of the bandit regime in China, nor are they ignorant as to the message this is sending on the part of the United States concerning the strengthening of Japan. Undercover investigations have shown that the Chinese Communist Party has been the major supporter of the opposition on Okinawa to the U.S. military presence. Not all of the people who join the protests are going along with this or are even aware of it but they are what the dictator Joseph Stalin called "useful idiots", which is to say, people who are helping a cause out of ignorance to its true purpose. It is clear that this is the case because the long-standing and obvious goal of Communist Chinese policy has been to isolate and so weaken Japan.

The Communist Party leadership knows as well as anyone that so long as the U.S.-Japan alliance exists, they cannot touch Japan. They also know that if the Japanese people demand or can be influenced to demand the removal of U.S. military bases, the Americans will pack up and leave. This is exactly what happened in The Philippines though, lately, the Filipino government has requested U.S. military forces to return due to the increased aggression and expansionism of China. However, there was a certain loss of solidarity there, because of the eviction of U.S. forces, that still lingers. The United States is the only official ally that Japan has and the CCP, more than anything else, wants this alliance to end. It is for the same reason that they have backed secessionist movements in the Ryukyu Islands, as far-fetched as they are, because if these were successful that would also be a means of getting rid of the U.S. military bases and a major block to their goal of economic and military domination of East Asia. No other power in the region is strong enough to oppose them so they are working on two fronts: militarily and economically; building up each so that no country will be strong enough to oppose them or that no country can afford to oppose them.

The dispute over military bases on Okinawa plays perfectly into the hands of the CCP, encouraging anti-American sentiments in Japan, which is shown in the United States in the form of the protesters and which then creates mistrust of Japan on the part of Americans. They can make use of local issues, local self-interest but it all serves their overriding goal of creating division which, if carried on, would, they hope, lead to the loss of a major strategic partner for the United States and the loss for Japan of their only official ally and the protection of the world's leading military. They are also, of course, always busy trying to buy influence and support with the politicians of both countries as well to further their goals. It is the classic "divide and conquer" strategy which people of goodwill on both sides of the Pacific must work to resist.

Manchu-Japanese Imperial Ties

Yesterday was the anniversary of the start of the 1911 Revolution in China that ended with the abdication of the Manchu Qing Dynasty and an end to thousands of years of the imperial monarchial tradition in China. Later, the Empire of Japan would correct one of the great historic injustices associated with this uprising by restoring the last Qing Emperor to the throne of his ancestral homeland of Manchuria, which was his birthright. In honor of that, here are some photos of the Manchu and Japanese Emperors together on the visit of the Emperor of Manchukuo to Japan to affirm the close ties of friendship between the two monarchies.

Using History as a Weapon

Today, I was watching a program on CCTV (I try to keep up with what the other side is saying occasionally) and the topic was the First Sino-Japanese War (Japan-Qing War 日清戦争) as 2014 is the 120th anniversary of the start of the conflict. As is to be expected, however, the CCTV commentators did not simply use history as a tool to learn from past mistakes and successes but rather prefer to use history as a weapon for the benefit of the present-day communist regime. The spoke about the war as one in a series of Japanese “invasions” of China and that should be dealt with first. For those unfamiliar with the facts of the matter, the Empire of Japan did not start the trouble with China. It started in Korea which Japan wanted to see independent of China which had dominated Korea for centuries as a vassal state. There was a series of incidents which led to the conflict, all of which involved attacks against Japan. In 1892 there was a rebellion by Korean troops and peasants because of a famine that resulted in an attack on the Japanese legation and it was only thanks to a waiting British warship that the legation staff were able to escape alive. In 1884 a Chinese-backed coup in Korea saw the Japanese legation burned to the ground. Then, in 1886, Chinese naval forces landed in Nagasaki and went on a rampage, looting property, killing police and molesting Japanese women and children. In 1889 the Korean government cut off soybean exports to Japan, causing much hardship and in 1894 there was the assassination of a pro-Japanese Korean activist in China (by pro-Chinese Koreans). Later that summer, China sent troops in Korea and Japan responded by sending a force of its own. Inevitably, the two sides clashed and the war was started.

Obviously, any fair-minded person can see that this war was not a case of Japan “invading” China and I say that as someone who is a big supporter of the late Qing Empire. The Japanese had been attacked numerous times and finally took action to protect the Japanese people and Japanese interests in Korea and send the message to China that the Empire of Japan would not be bullied. The way it worked out, as most know, is that China was disastrously defeated which shocked the rest of the world as no one expected that a small country like Japan, which only recently began interacting with the rest of the world, would be able to defeat the traditional regional power of China. From that point until the end of World War II, the Empire of Japan was the new regional super-power of East Asia. There are a number of lessons China could draw from this defeat and for the most part, the country did so long ago. Things like the need for a unified military command, a centralized authority, problems with discipline, training and corruption were all identified and China has known about this and tried to remedy these problems for a long time. The panel did make mention of the fact that corruption in the army is still a concern in China today, but that was quickly brushed aside because, as the panelists said, they did not want to tarnish the “glorious” reputation of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. I suppose by “glorious” they mean slaughtering peaceful Tibetan Buddhists or defenseless students protesting for basic freedom because other than that, the PLA does not have much of a record of success behind it.

This panel sat there and claimed that the massive military buildup of China was good for everyone because it would contribute to the “peace and stability” of East Asia while at the same time, these same men claimed that even the most modest steps to improve self-defense by Japan were acts of unwarranted “aggression”. They also brought up the expected line about China, Russia and South Korea needing to work together to preserve the post-World War II “world order” by which they mean keeping Japan weak, isolated and submissive. That is, of course, how the Red Chinese use history as a weapon rather than an educational tool. They will always invoke World War II to try to maintain anti-Japanese hostility and to cast themselves in a positive light. However, if anyone cared to note the facts, they would remember that neither the Red Chinese, Russian Federation or Republic of Korea even existed at the time of World War II and the Chinese communists certainly played no part in defeating Japan. They barely took part in the fighting at all, simply being content to sit back and allow the Kuomintang to carry the burden while they waited to pounce when it was over.

It is clear that Communist China will never relent in their hatred of Japan and their military build-up, even while having enough to overpower every continental neighbor, is proof of their hostile intentions. The pro-peace and passivity crowd in Japan need to realize that the time is near which will decide whether Japan will be an independent nation or a servant of Red China. If Japan wishes to remain an independent country, it is necessary to take defense more seriously and stop allowing Red China to control the narrative and define Japan in the eyes of the world. Decisive action must be taken quickly before it is too late.

Crimea First, Mongolia Next?

The recent events in the Ukraine and the Russian annexation of Crimea are being watched closely in the People's Republic of China. Many western commentators have warned that inaction by the international community regarding Russia's seizure of Crimea could be taken by the Chinese as a "green light" to seize the Senkaku Islands or perhaps even make aggressive moves towards Taiwan (less likely). However, the Red Chinese might be looking in a different direction, to an area where the west has shown very little concern or compassion in the past: Mongolia. Weibo, the Chinese communist version of "Twitter" has exploded recently in messages showing the map of China including Outer Mongolia and the on-line Chinese celebrity Cui Chenghao has put out the message that the Soviet Union also, in the past, held a referendum after military forces occupied the country and then made Mongolia the first Soviet satellite state, a part of the USSR in all but name. The western powers took no notice at the time and the only one to show any concern or willingness to do anything about it was the Empire of Japan. The Chinese aggression comes from the false belief, spread through indoctrination by the communist government in Peking, that Mongolia should belong to China.

Bogd Khan
This, of course, is completely absurd. Mongolia never belonged to China in all of history. Manchuria and Mongolia were first united under the Qing Dynasty with the Manchu Emperor becoming the Great Khan of Mongolia after the death of Ligden Khan, the last Emperor of the Yuan Dynasty of Mongolia. After that, the Qing Dynasty later came to reign over the whole of China. However, unsatisfied with throwing off the Qing Dynasty in their own country (and with it, most of traditional Chinese culture and tradition) the Republic of China claimed ownership over all the lands previously ruled by the Manchu Emperor even though none of these places had anything to do with the revolution and overthrow of the last Qing Emperor. The Mongols always held fast to their traditions and customs and that includes, of course, the Mongolian style of monarchy. So, when the last Qing Emperor, who was also Great Khan of the Mongols, was deposed and confined to the Forbidden City, the Mongols granted secular power as monarch to their spiritual leader who is known to history as the Bogd Khan. Chinese republican forces deposed him but were chased out by the White Russian/Mongol army of Baron Ungern von Sternberg who restored the Bogd Khan to power. However, that ended later the same year, in 1921, when the Soviets occupied Mongolia.

Great Khan of the Mongols also
The Chinese never consistently held control over Mongolia at any point in history, before or after the revolution. Mongolia was in a partnership, a personal union, with the Emperor of Manchuria, before China had anything to do with either of them, before all three came together under the Great Qing Empire. But also for that reason, the close ties between Manchuria and Mongolia were never forgotten so that when the Japanese forces corrected a great historical injustice by restoring the last Emperor of Manchuria to his legitimate throne, this was done with the expectation that the new empire would include, in some way, the Mongols as well, whether as united together in one empire or as partners under a shared monarchy with the Empire of Manchukuo. Aisin-Gioro Pu-yi had, by every right, never ceased to be legitimately the Emperor of Manchuria and Great Khan of the Mongols and this was more or less recognized by Japan as well since all Japanese official correspondence on the issue always grouped the two countries together as addressing the Manchu and Mongol peoples. There was no doubt that Mongolia was not being forgotten even though the rest of the world turned a blind eye to first the Chinese and then the Soviets occupation and oppression of independent Mongolia. Today, the People's Republic of China is carrying on this history of aggression against the Mongols who are cut off and surrounded by huge powers that have shown little consideration for their wishes; Russia and China.

Ukraine's situation has taught the Chinese communists a lesson. They see their supposed friendship with Russia for the farce that it is, as everyone seems to realize except the Russians. They see Russia able to annex territory from a neighboring country and get away with it, with the rest of the world doing nothing practically to stop them. They also see western weakness and hypocrisy on display with the way the Europeans and Americans condemned the secession of Crimea from Ukraine while in the past they supported the secession of Kosovo from Serbia. They do not think anyone can stop them from taking Mongolia and, sadly, it is easy to see that they may be correct. In the past, Japan could and did offer great help to the Mongols in defending themselves against Soviet and Chinese aggression but today, thanks to Article 9, Japan is forbidden to offer any real assistance and so there is no one close at hand who could be looked to by the Mongolians as an alternative to domination by Russia or China. All loyal forces should unite in support of the Mongols and in restoring the Mongolian monarchy as well as reuniting the Mongol people into one country where they will be safe and secure in their own way of life.

New Holidays in Communist China

Recently, the BBC reported that the bandit government of the People’s Sweatshop Republic of China was establishing two new national holidays. Of course, since this a communist dictatorship we are dealing with here, these are not simply days to celebrate or commemorate but both have a specific political motive behind them and that is to spread anti-Japanese hatred and bigotry. One is a holiday celebrating the end of World War II, or as they call it, “Victory Day of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression” on September 3 and the other is to commemorate the so-called “Rape of Nanking”, officially called “National Memorial Day to Commemorate Those Killed By Japanese Aggressors During the Nanking Massacre”. Obviously, using national holidays to promote propaganda makes for some rather lengthy and ineloquent names for these holidays. They cannot simply have a ‘victory day’ or a ‘memorial day’ but have to make sure to vilify the Empire of Japan even in the very name of the celebration and that is all there is to these new holidays; an effort by the communist bandit government to encourage anti-Japanese hatred and bigotry among the Chinese people because their broken promises and bankrupt ideology is no longer sufficient to unite the masses.

Each of these new holidays is a complete farce and are based on nothing but lies and deception. In the first place, the “Victory Day etc” holiday is based on a lie. The communists had almost nothing to do with fighting the Japanese in World War II. During the first ten years of conflict, they were content to let the Japanese and the Kuomintang fight while they sat on the sidelines waiting to strike the weakened victor when it was over (as they eventually did). There was a brief alliance between the communists and nationalists during the war but it accomplished nothing and broke down quickly. The communists never came close to winning a victory over Japan, they never even came close to having a real fight with Japan. At most, they launched nuisance bandit raids against territory behind the Japanese lines and nothing more. Even the Republic of China has no real right to claim credit for “victory” over Japan as they had been fighting the Japanese forces for ten years before 1941 and were no closer to winning than they had been on the first day. They had been defeated time and time again, their capital had fallen and their armies pushed back into the most remote and inhospitable interiors of China. All of this, of course, went on while the communist Chinese sat back and watched their nationalist countrymen carry on the fight alone.

The holiday commemorating the so-called “Rape of Nanking” is a more delicate matter but is no less dishonest. At the very least it is a lie of omission. In the first place, despite their assertions to the contrary, the evidence of the immense scale of the Nanking atrocity is highly debatable. Huge numbers of documents and photographs have been proven to have been tampered with. The first hand accounts are vastly different in their estimation of what happened and how bad it was and none of them support the ridiculously inflated numbers put out by the communist bandits in Peking. They claim that 300,000 Chinese were massacred but the first-hand accounts we have do not support such a ridiculous number. In the first place, this is more than the entire population of Nanking at the time, in the second place, one of the eye-witness accounts was from a German Nazi (who changed his story at times) who claimed that 60,000 people were killed while an American doctor put the total of both killed and missing at 6,600. That alone should be enough to raise doubts to any fair minded person as no simple error could account for such a drastic disparity amongst the claimed eye-witness accounts. From 300,000 to 60,000 to 6,600 is not an honest mistake but obvious evidence that some people were not telling the truth.

However, again, if the Chinese want to believe a lie there is no one to stop them from doing that. If they want to tell themselves that the Japanese killed 300,000 people they will do so but they cannot honestly claim there is no political motivation behind this. Otherwise, why commemorate that but not the millions of people killed by the Chinese Communist Party and its murderous policies under Chairman Mao? Why is there no holiday to commemorate the 500,000 Chinese people killed by the intentional flooding of the Chinese republican troops in 1938? If there was no political motivation behind this, even if 300,000 Chinese did die at Nanking, would it not be even more fitting to have a holiday for the roughly 45 million Chinese who died as a result of the “Great Leap Forward” by Mao and the communist party? What about the millions of Chinese who were murdered during the ten years of the “Cultural Revolution” by Mao and his communist fanatics? So many millions of people died at the hands of the Chinese Communist Party that it is difficult to count them all with any accuracy, yet all that is ignored while the same government focus on the “horror” of a claimed 300,000 being killed by the Japanese. The deaths of any innocent people is tragic and 300,000 deaths is certainly horrific but for a regime to commemorate that and arouse hatred against a peaceful foreign power while having the blood of tens of millions on their own hands is the most disgraceful, shameful, hypocrisy imaginable.

First Shanghai Incident

It was today in history, 1932, that the First Shanghai Incident occurred, also known as the January 28 Incident when forces of the Imperial Japanese Army and Navy (Shanghai Expeditionary Army) clashed with the Nineteenth Route Army, and later the Fifth Army of the Kuomintang faction of the Republic of China. Many people have a distorted and one-sided view of this incident. For them, the story is that the Shanghai Incident was orchestrated by the Empire of Japan in order to distract from the establishment of the independent state in Manchuria (best known as Manchukuo, which is actually just Manchuria in Chinese) but this explanation does not bear up to close scrutiny. In the first place, why would Japan need anyone to be distracted from Manchuria at all? No country and not the League of Nations were even thinking of taking any sort of action in response to the establishment of an independent Manchuria even though many opposed it for the example it set of peoples in Asia gaining their independence. Certainly no one forgot about Manchuria after the incident in Shanghai, so the reasoning does not make sense on the face of it. Secondly, we have the facts and the basic facts are that a group of Japanese monks were attacked by the Chinese near a factory and that after a mob disturbance this factory was burned down after which the Imperial Japanese forces intervened in Shanghai.

The usual, anti-Japanese explanation of this is that these monks were attacked by Chinese who had been paid to do so by a Japanese agent for the sole purpose of provoking an incident. However, again, this makes no sense and, if it matters to anyone, is also a totally unproven allegation. Even those who make this claim state that the five monks who were attacked were members of a very nationalistic sect, so what they are trying to argue is that the aggressively nationalistic Japanese military hired the Chinese (who they supposedly hated and looked down on) in order to attack their own "aggressively nationalistic" Japanese monks? It really stretches the limits of reason. It sounds somewhat similar to the modern-day "truthers" who claim that the President of the United States destroyed the World Trade Center in New York just to have an excuse to wage war against Islamic radicals. It is rather too incredible to be believed. However, if one cuts away the unsubstantiated rumors and allegations one is left with some simple facts: it was Japanese monks who were attacked by the Chinese and it was a Chinese reaction that prompted the public disorder which finally compelled Japan to intervene. Those are the facts and no one actually disputes them.

Five hundred Japanese marines were sent ashore to restore order and protect Japanese lives and property against the Chinese who had attacked them in the wake of the destruction of the towel factory. The local Chinese authorities then escalated the incident by declaring martial law and when the Chinese and Japanese forces clashed, more Japanese reinforcements were sent and both sides were pulled into an all-out battle for Shanghai. The Japanese forces were led by General Shirakawa Yoshinori (left) a veteran and distinguished officer. On the other hand, the Chinese 19th Route Army was not considered reliably loyal to the Kuomintang, had been trained by Soviet advisers and was considered radically leftist by even the Republic of China ruling faction. They were also aided by criminals of the notorious Chinese "Green Gang" that operated in the Shanghai underworld. Later, when they could not defeat the Japanese, they sent in better troops were trained and equipped by Nazi Germany. It should also be pointed out that, at the time, those neutral powers present in the international section of Shanghai were almost unanimously in support of the Japanese and blamed the incident on the Chinese for having provoked Japan and brought ruin down on the city. Remember also that these "neutrals" were mostly Europeans and Americans who were not well disposed toward Japan at the time and would not have been the sort to have given Japan the benefit of the doubt and yet almost as a whole, those who were there at the time and place that the incident happened believed that it was the fault of the Chinese and not Japan.

Finally, some have also said that the Japanese rejected efforts to make peace and end the fighting. This is, at best, a misleading half-truth. The Japanese forces rejected a demand to cease-fire from a delegation sent by the League of Nations which did not speak for China and which had nothing to do with the conflict. On the other hand, when the Japanese offered a cease-fire if the Chinese would withdraw their troops to a safe distance beyond the city it was the Chinese authorities who rejected it, ensuring the the destruction of Shanghai would continue. Finally, however, a peace was agreed to and Shanghai became a "demilitarized zone" with Chinese and Japanese armed forces withdrawn. Again, if this was all planned and staged by the Japanese, and they agreed to the peace, one would have to ask what Japan gained from it? Things went back to the way they had been before for the most part. Obviously, the facts show that the First Shanghai Incident was an unfortunate event that cannot be blamed entirely on Japan. If local Chinese groups and officials had acted differently there is no doubt that it never would have happened.

Japan, Nazis and Stupidity

Today there is a common refrain going on among the usual anti-Japanese crowd (mostly the republican regimes of Communist China and South Korea) has taken up as a slogan for their mindless, zombie-like followers. This slogan is “Japan is Nazi of Asia”. This has even been taken up as an official line by the bandit government in Peking in response to some western historians who have compared China to Germany just before World War I. Trying, as always, to shift all negative focus toward Japan, their officials have said that it is Japan that is ‘just like Germany’ but prior to World War II or, in other words, saying the Japanese are the Nazis of Asia. This is so stupid and asinine that it really should require no response, however, the republican enemies of Japan have been able to get away with too much for too long when it comes to slandering the honor and integrity of His Majesty the Emperor’s land and faithful children. So, we will take this seriously for a moment and let the facts show who, exactly, is most like the regime of Nazi Germany in East Asia today. This will not be opinion, this will be strictly the facts of history and the present day.

First of all, what was Nazi Germany like? Nazi Germany was a militarily aggressive state ruled by one dictator and where only one political party (a workers party) was allowed to participate in politics. Nazi Germany was also a state where racial minorities were persecuted, primarily the Jewish minority but also any other non-German group of which there were not many in Germany to begin with. There was no democracy in Germany, no contested elections between multiple parties because, as we have said, there was only one legal party allowed. Real religious freedom was limited. There was certainly no religious freedom for the Jews and the Christians in Germany, whether Catholic or Protestant, were allowed only under strict state control. If they were suspected of any lack of enthusiasm in their support of the regime they were persecuted. For Catholics, letters from the Pope in Rome had to be smuggled into the country secretly in order to be read at mass. Nazi Germany was officially racist and preached a doctrine of the racial superiority of the “Aryan race” and was openly aggressive towards its neighbors. Nazi Germany was always claiming territory held by their neighbors. They claimed Austria, the Sudetenland (later all of Czech territory) and parts of Poland and Lithuania really belonged to Germany and should be taken back. They even started to obtain these territories by intimidation or by military force when necessary. This was preceded, of course, by a massive build-up of the German military just before World War II.

Does that sound anything at all like modern Japan? The State of Japan is certainly not militarily aggressive; it has a policy of pacifism written into its constitution. Japan is not ruled by a dictator but is governed by a Prime Minister under the august reign of His Majesty the Emperor according to constitutional law. Japan is not a single party state as there are parties representing a wide array of political opinions that stand for election and participate in politics. Racial minorities are not persecuted in Japan as even the most vocal critics of Japan, usually the Korean minority, have remained in Japan for decades so they must not be treated very badly. In fact, many in Japan hesitate to show any pride in their own country such as raising the national flag or singing the national anthem because of concern over offending foreign people living or going to school in Japan. There is religious freedom in Japan with communities of Christians, Buddhists, Shintoists, people who hold to a variety of religious beliefs and some who hold to none. In fact, Japan is so open to religious minorities that quite a few Christians have been elected Prime Minister in Japan even though the Christian population is extremely small. As for racism, Japan certainly has no official policy or position supportive of racial hatred. In fact, Japan was the first country to call for an international condemnation of racism after World War I (the other Allied powers rejected this proposal). And, finally, as for being aggressive with their neighbors, this certainly does not describe modern Japan. There are, of course, some territorial issues Japan has with neighboring countries but Japan has only ever pushed for discussions to resolve these issues (such as with Russia and South Korea) and was met with anger simply because Japan would like to talk about it. Japan has taken no military action against any neighbor or any country at all since 1945.

Obviously, anyone can see that the State of Japan is nothing, at all, in any way, like Nazi Germany. However, that description of Nazi Germany did have a ring of familiarity to it, didn’t it? What country in east Asia does that sound like? Let us take a look at the People’s Republic of China. The PRC is a militarily aggressive state, having invaded Korea, Vietnam, India, Tibet etc. The PRC is also ruled by a dictator and it too has only one political party (a workers party) which is the only one allowed to participate in politics. Communist China has also persecuted racial minorities such as the Manchurians, Mongols, Tibetans and Uyghurs. They have flooded their ancestral lands with Han colonists to eliminate these minorities in a demographic flood. There is no democracy in Red China and those who call for democracy and multi-party elections are shot in the street or run over with tanks. There is no religious freedom in Red China with Catholics loyal to the Pope rather than the Communist Party, Tibetan Buddhists loyal to the Dalai Lama, Muslims in Xinjiang and even Falun Gong practitioners all among the persecuted. Even those religious groups that are allowed to worship must always support the policies of the government or face similar persecution. Also, just like Nazi Germany, the Chinese Communist Party is dominated by one race, one nationality, the Han, and all others must take second place and they have long believed in their own superiority over all other peoples. Also, just like Nazi Germany, Communist China is constantly claiming territory belonging to neighboring countries. Red China has territorial disputes with Japan, Korea, Vietnam, The Philippines, almost every neighboring country and have used both intimidation and military force to gain control of disputed territory. Finally, Red China has also been building up its military forces rapidly so that it has a large nuclear arsenal, a huge air force, an expanding navy and the largest army in the world.

The facts should be obvious for all to see. Japan has nothing at all in common with Nazi Germany. It is a peaceful, constitutional monarchy and not an aggressive military dictatorship. If there is any country in east Asia that most resembles that of Nazi Germany, it is another one-party dictatorship: the People’s Republic of China.

Is Red China So Peaceful?

I have addressed this before but it is a lie that continues to be spread around by the pro-Communist Chinese partisans in the world. Over and over again the lie is repeated that "China has never attacked anyone" or some variation on that falsehood such as, 'China never invaded a foreign country' or 'China has never fought an aggressive war' -it all comes to the same thing. This is completely ridiculous as anyone who lives in the neighborhood of China should know but many people in the rest of the world seemed to be fooled by it. This is also explained by the fact that this is not a recent fabrication but one that has been around a long time. One can actually hear it in the American propaganda films "Why We Fight" from World War II in relation to the Republic of China faction of Chiang Kai-shek. Of course, it was just as untrue then as it is untrue now in reference to the People's Republic of China. Just since the communists came to complete power on the mainland of China, their government has attacked and invaded numerous foreign countries.

After Communist North Korea invaded South Korea and was defeated, Red China sent troops in and invaded South Korea in support of the DPRK (thereafter a puppet state of Communist China). Also, in 1950, Chinese communist troops invaded Tibet which had always been an independent country even as a sovereign vassal of the Great Qing Empire and it issued a declaration of independence after the overthrow of the Qing Emperor in 1911 just to reiterate this point. In 1962 Chinese Communist forces invaded the Republic of India (and little countries that got in the way like Bhutan and formerly independent Sikkim). In 1979 Red China invaded their fellow communists in Vietnam because of Chinese support for the brutal Khmer Rouge regime of Pol Pot. They were defeated by the Vietnamese and forced to retreat back to China but still claimed some territory of Vietnam (including the Paracel Islands). Most recently Red Chinese forces have also invaded the territory of The Philippines by occupying a shoal in Filipino territory. There are even more examples that could be listed but without going into a complete history of China, this should serve to make the truth obvious to all.

PM Abe Stands Up to Chinese Threats

In a recent interview Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said that Japan would be taking a stronger leadership position on security matters in East Asia as a result of the increasingly hostile behavior of China which looks to the threat of force and intimidation to settle matters rather than legal means. Mr. Abe stated that other countries in the region, also threatened by China, are looking for Japan to take leadership in standing up to the bandit government in Peking. Furthermore, in response to Chinese sending unmanned drones to spy on other countries, Mr. Abe warned that any Chinese drones that violate Japanese airspace will be liable to be shot down. The Red Chinese responded in typical fashion, with hysteria and astounding dishonesty. The bandit government stated that if any Chinese drones are shot down in Japanese air space the communist regime will consider it an act of war and respond with full military retaliation and, to be really absurd, that it would be Japan that would be held responsible for opening hostilities in this situation. Just think about that for a minute, the Red Chinese are actually saying that if they invade Japanese territory and the Japanese make any effort to defend themselves it will mean that Japan has started a war. It is almost too ridiculous to even comprehend such a mentality. The invader claiming to be the victim -how typical of the bandit regime.

Hopefully, this stupidity and saber-rattling by Red China will not intimidate Japan or dampen the rebirth of the 'samurai spirit'. It is perfectly clear who is being the aggressor in this situation. For example, there is no doubt that the Red Chinese are using fear and intimidation to victimize their neighbors such as in the recent seizure of an atoll from The Philippines. They grab disputed territory and then move massive military forces in so that no one would dare oppose them. In the case of the Senkaku Islands, they suddenly make a claim on Japanese territory and then violate that territory at will and if the Japanese respond they threaten violence and try to tell the world that they are only "defending themselves". They are like a thief who breaks into a house to steal something only to then claim that the owner is the aggressor when he tries to stop them from taking his property.

The Red Chinese have shown they have no desire to settle problems reasonably since they refuse to even meet with Prime Minister Abe. In every instance, following the sincere wishes for peace and goodwill of His Majesty the Emperor, Japan has tried to resolve difficulties through peaceful dialogue. However, the bandit government refuses to even speak with the leader of the Japanese government. This will prove to be a great mistake. The Red Chinese should remember what has happened when they have attacked Japan in the past. In 1894 when China fought Japan, everyone thought China was so big and powerful there was no way they could lose, yet Japan administered a total defeat on China and the Chinese were greatly humiliated to be beaten by this island country that they had for so long held to be totally inferior. The Chinese have extremely large military forces but especially in terms of their air and naval forces, those of Japan, though fewer in number, are much more advanced and of higher quality. China should also remember that if they try to make war on Japan it will not be Japan alone but the United States as well. However, that assumes that the Japanese air and naval forces have not totally defeated any aggressive Chinese force before America can even respond and any conflict would be ruinous for the Chinese economy and most likely provoke a rebellion by the poor and oppressed masses in China. In short, if the bandit government tries to get aggressive they will only be hurting themselves. That would certainly be no tragedy.

PRC and ROK Snub Abe

Once again the most murderous regime in human history, that illegitimate bandit government in Peking that calls itself the People's Republic of China is snubbing the leader of the Japanese government, Prime Minister Abe. There is a big conference coming up and the current dictator of Red China will be meeting with many other Asian leaders but has said they will definitely not be meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Abe. What are they afraid of? Two countries do not have to agree on everything or even like each other just to talk to each other but the Red Chinese must be very frightened of Prime Minister Abe because they are refusing to even speak with him. The reason they give, as usual, is their spurious claim to the Senkaku Islands which belong to Japan. The conference isn't about the island dispute, it would likely not even be mentioned and yet, because Japan doesn't take the ridiculous Chinese claim to the Senkakus seriously, the communist dictator is refusing to even speak to the Prime Minister of Japan. Mr. Abe is likely very relieved by this really. Talking to the dictator of a country that runs slave labor camps and drives over its own people with tanks would be a sacrifice for any civilized person anyway.

However, the bandit government is not alone! The President of the Republic of Korea is refusing to meet or speak with Prime Minister Abe as well. Their reasons are even more convoluted. Red China opposing Japan is not surprising (what is evil will always hate what is good) because China has had a government and ideology ever since the revolution that is opposed to monarchy and traditional Asian values that Japan is based on. The attitude of South Korea, on the other hand, really makes no sense. Both Koreas, it goes without saying, are republics that have an ideology that is totally opposed to Japan as well as the whole history and values of Korea but it really makes no sense that South Korea should be on the same side as Red China in refusing to even speak to the Prime Minister of Japan. Is she afraid of something? It was China that sent hundreds of thousands of troops onto the Korean peninsula to totally destroy the ROK, not Japan, yet South Korea (and North Korea for that matter) side with Red China. In the past, Japan actually fought a war to end Chinese rule over Korea. Perhaps they just like being ruled by the Chinese and that's all there is to it. Who knows? With Red China and North Korea, both communist dictatorships who want to destroy all non-communist countries and dominate all their neighbors, South Korea and the ROC on Taiwan should be coming together with Japan for mutual cooperation. Will that happen? Probably not, at least not until these illegitimate republics start behaving sensibly.

The Senkaku Islands Dispute

Recently, tensions have been raised dramatically between the State of Japan and the People’s Republic of China (as well as the Republic of China on Taiwan to a lesser extent) over a small group of rocky, uninhabited islands known in Japan as the Senkaku islands and as the Diaoyu islands in China. Unlike other disputes, such as that over the Falkland Islands for example, the Senkakus only recently became a controversial issue and, fortunately, one does not have to go back so far in history to trace the origins of the dispute. That, in itself, however, is something worth giving a moment of consideration. Certainly in Japan it is not seen as merely coincidence that the two Chinese republics only decided to lay claim to these minor islands after evidence of mineral resources was found in their vicinity, and after Japan had adopted a constitution that embraced pacifism and after the American occupation of Japan had ended. In other words, the Chinese republics only “discovered” that the Senkaku islands had “always” belonged to China after they learned they might be worth something and after the point when their claim would have meant a dispute with the United States rather than an officially pacifist Japan. As with the earlier case looked at, it should be made clear at the outset that the Chinese claim is blatantly ridiculous and there should be no doubt that the Senkaku islands are Japanese sovereign territory. So, how did this dispute come to be? Let us take a look at some history first.

Almost every territorial dispute involving Japan essentially comes down to an effort by the neighboring republics to change historical events that were disadvantageous to them following the defeat of Japan in World War II. For the most part, the Chinese claim that the Senkakus were a part of the Great Ming Empire, arguing that they were either a part of Taiwan or a part of the Okinawa-based Ryukyu kingdom which was a vassal of China (and a vassal of a Japanese daimyo at much the same time). One should keep in mind that Red China has used a similar argument to lay claim to other foreign, non-Chinese lands in the past. For example, because Tibet and Mongolia were vassals of the Manchu emperors, communist China claimed Tibet and Mongolia to be “Chinese”. Tibet was occupied and no doubt Mongolia would have been as well were it not already a part of the Soviet Union in all but name at the time. However, what is seldom mentioned is that China refused to deal with any foreign power unless they took the position, at least formally, of being a tributary of the Emperor of China. By that logic, Korea and Vietnam, for example, could both be claimed as “Chinese” territory. However, in the case of the Senkaku islands this is particularly absurd since the islands are unoccupied, have always been unoccupied and China nor Taiwan nor the Ryukyu kingdom never made any effort to formally claim them. They were simply rocks in the ocean that belonged to no one.

The first formal claim on the islands came in 1895 when the Empire of Japan formally incorporated the islands and installed markers on them to clearly show them as being Japanese territory. No other power had ever even attempted to do something similar at any point in the past. In fact, Chinese records dating back to the Ming dynasty clearly show the islands being labeled as non-Chinese territory and more recent Chinese maps and documents list them as belonging to Japan and label them with the Japanese rather than the Chinese names for them. The best China can do is to point to some “discovered” historical maps which show the islands labeled in Chinese. However, these merely prove that the Chinese knew of their existence, not that they were Chinese territory. Furthermore, words alone have never been deemed enough to lay claim to a territory. One can claim to own anything in the world but unless some effort is made to actually possess such a territory, the claim is meaningless. Recently, the Chinese republics have become quite adept at finding historical maps that show just about everything around them as belonging to China. Thankfully, these are all meaningless to the current dispute as they do not take into account the many international agreements and treaties made in the intervening centuries. After all, there are historical maps which show Florida belonging to Spain, most of France belonging to England or Poland belonging to Russia yet they have no bearing on the current legal status of any of these places.

Realistically, the Chinese are forced to deal with this fact and so tend to argue their case based on the Treaty of San Francisco which a defeated Japan was forced to sign by the victorious Allies after World War II. In this treaty Japan was forced to renounce Taiwan and all the islands belonging to it, basically undoing the Treaty of Shimonoseki in which Taiwan became a Japanese colony following the Japanese defeating China in the First Sino-Japanese War. However, as stated above, the Senkakus had never belonged to Taiwan and so were not part of the lands handed over to China according to the Treaty of San Francisco. In fact, by that same treaty, the Senkakus were clearly designated as a part of Japan and thus came under the jurisdiction of the occupying forces of the United States, grouped as part of the Ryukyu Islands and the Chinese never objected or protested at all to this assertion at the time. This is significant, because the Chinese did make other objections to the treaty concerning territory they wished to claim. China was not represented at the San Francisco meeting because there was a civil war going on and no one could decide which side to invite; the United States wanted to invite the nationalists and the United Kingdom wanted to invite the communists so neither side ended up attending. The Chinese protested, however, claiming the Paracel, Spratly and Pratas island groups as their own but said nothing about the Senkakus.

In fact, as late as 1969 officially Chinese documents still listed the Senkakus as Japanese territory. During the American occupation, U.S. forces even used a couple of the islands as a bombing range for American aircraft and yet, during all that time, China raised no protest. Surely, if they truly believed these islands were Chinese territory, they would have at least raised their voices slightly when they were being bombed by American aircraft, but, not a sound was heard. The situation only began to change in 1969 (the same year the Chinese still say the Senkakus belong to Japan) when the UN identified potential oil and natural gas reserves in the area surrounding the Senkaku Islands. Suddenly, as if by a miracle, the bandit government in Peking became interested. Yet, they still said nothing until 1972. What happened in 1972? Purely by coincidence I am sure, this is when the United States ended its occupation of the Ryukyu Islands, including the Senkakus, handing them back over to Japan (the Allied occupation of Japan having ended in 1952). So it was only then, once oil and natural gas had been discovered and after the United States was no longer responsible for the area, that the Chinese republics suddenly announced to the world that the Senkaku Islands had “always” been Chinese.

天皇陛下萬歲!
The idea that anyone at all could be taken in by such blatantly dishonest and self-serving tactics is, frankly, astounding. Regardless of what any historical Chinese maps label the islands, the facts are these: the only country to ever actually make a physical claim on the Senkaku Islands is Japan, the only country to ever actually occupy the Senkaku Islands (in a short-lived business venture) was Japan and before the UN discovered potential oil and gas reserves in the area there was no disagreement at all that the Senkaku Islands belonged to anyone other than Japan. The fact that these were Japanese islands and did not belong to China (or Taiwan) was made clear by their being included in the U.S. occupation of Japan and in subsequent defensive treaties between the United States of America and the State of Japan, the Senkaku Islands were clearly included as Japanese sovereign territory just as Chinese official records show the islands as belonging to Japan right up until China thought they might be worth something. One would also be foolish not to view this dispute in context since Red China has similar disputes with many other neighbors, particularly in the Southeast Asia area concerning islands in the South China Sea, all of which China suddenly took an interest in when oil and/or natural gas deposits were found to be in the area. Similar disputes involve the Chinese republics with The Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam and Brunei all because China has discovered mineral deposits in certain areas. Communist China, ironically enough, has no other motive than the profit motive when it comes to their sudden claim on the Senkaku Islands.

Red Chinese Triumphalism

Recently it was the anniversary of the official ceremony in which the Empire of Japan surrendered to the Allied nations on the USS Missouri at the end of World War II. Most countries take the opportunity to reflect on the horrors of war and to honor those who died in the conflict. That is not the case, however, in the People's Republic of China where, year after year, triumphalism and brain-washing is the order of the day for the communist bandit government in Peking. I saw it again this year with CCTV coverage of ceremonies in various locations across Red China with all of them using the same government-fed talking points, all repeating again and again the communist party line about the conflict being the "anti-fascist" war to stop "Japanese aggression". The phrase "Japanese aggression" is of course repeated the most by the indoctrinated Red Chinese. It is, and this should go without saying, a complete lie. You will notice that other countries do not refer to the war in this way, only the Red Chinese are so insecure as to feel the need to try to make a political point, glorify themselves and denigrate another country even in what they call the war. However, it is a lie. And this can be easily explained.

China, neither the communists nor the nationalists, fought against fascism in World War II. They never fought the fascists who were the Italians in World War II nor did they fight the Germans who were national socialists (Nazis). In fact, prior to signing the Axis pact with Japan, Nazi Germany was the biggest foreign supporter of the Republic of China. Did anyone at CCTV appreciate the irony of showing newsreel footage of Chinese troops wearing Nazi uniforms and Nazi helmets at the same time they were calling the Chinese war against Japan an "anti-fascist" war? And, as for the often repeated phrase about the war being against "Japanese aggression" this is certainly laughable. The Chinese initiated the conflict with Japan in the beginning and if the Chinese had been the victims of Japanese "aggression" all of that time, about a decade; why did they not declare war on Japan until after December 7, 1941? I would also like to know, since the Red Chinese refer to World War II as a war against "Japanese aggression", what they call the many other wars the communist Chinese have fought? If they were so honest they would call the Chinese Civil War the war of communist aggression against the Republic of China, the Korean War would be the war of Red Chinese aggression against South Korea and the United Nations. What about the wars of Chinese aggression against Tibet, India or Vietnam?

However, the worst part about these displays of triumphalism every year is the indoctrination that goes with them. In the CCTV report that I saw, they interviewed little children, in their little communist party uniforms, repeating everything they had been taught (indoctrinated) at their communist party schools about the heroism of the Chinese soldiers and the supposed aggression of the Japanese. They are not teaching these children to honor their forefathers or have a respect for true history but are simply indoctrinating each new generation to have a prejudice and hatred against Japan. This is something they have to keep alive because the bandit government in Peking knows how valuable it is to always have hatred of Japan as a way to distract the people from their own tyranny and oppression to rally against a foreign power. Of course, it is also completely laughable to hear these adults and children repeat the ridiculous lie their government masters have taught them that the Chinese ever "defeated" the Imperial Japanese Army. Japan was forced to surrender by the dropping of two atomic bombs by the United States and the disgraceful stab in the back of the Soviet invasion of Manchuria afterwards. The Chinese had nothing to do with it and prior to the United States, Great Britain and other Allies all going to war against Japan, the Japanese were clearly winning the war in China and the Chinese had proven completely unable to stop the Imperial Japanese Army in open combat.

This is especially ridiculous coming from the leaders of the communist bandit government in Peking since the fighting that did happen between China and Japan was carried out almost entirely by the forces of the Republic of China and the communist bandits of Mao Zedong had very little to do with it. They made almost no appreciable contribution at all to the overall Chinese war effort. Most of the time, the communist bandits never succeeded at being anything more than a nuisance to the Imperial Japanese Army. But, this is certainly nothing new for communist China. Lies and deception have always been standard procedure to them as has been indoctrinating the public, children and adults alike, to carry on a legacy of hatred against their neighbors. These war memorials are not about honoring the past but are about distorting history, glorifying the communist dictatorship and putting hatred and bigotry in the hearts of every new generation of Chinese children. It is a disgraceful scene. None of it can compare to what goes on in Japan that always so infuriates the bandit government in Peking. They are angered that in Japan people remember the end of the war by honoring those sacrificed their lives for the Emperor, who died defending their homeland while in China they use the occasion to keep the communist sacred tradition of anti-Japanese hatred alive.
